Hebridean Isles Heading for Coll and Oban

I don’t know whether it was holidays on the Clyde as a child, particularly on the Isle of Cumbrae (Millport), but I do love to go down to the pier and watch the arrival and departure of the ferry. There is the camaraderie between those handling the ropes on the ferry and the pier, there is the skill of the captain and crew as they come alongside and line up with the linkspan, and there is the traffic: lorries, cars, bikes and foot passengers. Since coming to live on Tiree the pattern has been the MV Lord of the Isles (LOTI) on a Sunday and Monday with the MV Clansman calling Tuesday to Saturday. The start of the Winter time table saw the MV Hebridean Isles taking on the task of providing the link to the Mainland at Oban. This year there is to be a ferry 5 days a week for most of the Winter time table, although in the New Year this will reduce to 4 days for a few weeks.
