Up! Up! And Away!

With Spring in the air, on our beautiful Isle of Tiree, one of the joys of walking is listening to the birdsong. On calm days, when walking along the beach at Gott Bay, you are conscious of the sound of gentle lapping waves. On some beaches, however, the sound of the waves can be like the roar of an express train. Whether it be waves or birdsong, these are the dominate sounds on Tiree. Therefore, and especially on calm days, you become aware of any unusual sound such as the flight from Glasgow or the flight from Oban to Tiree and Coll.

FlyBe/Loganair provide the daily service to Glasgow International airport. Hebridean Air Services provide the twice weekly flights to Coll and Oban. There is also the occasional air ambulance flight. Apart from the normal business and leisure usage the Glasgow and Oban service make keeping hospital appointments less of an ordeal. All kinds of stories are told about the respective aircraft, especially of the tiny plane to Oban, but all are agreed on the skill and helpfulness of the lady pilot.
