“Thank You For Flying With Us. Have a safe onward journey.” Familiar words for many, but sadly in the light of recent events words that cannot be taken for granted.
Yesterday, in our travels across the island to enable our guest the opportunity to purchase some last minute gifts, we witnessed two planes, (the large and small) take off Glasgow bound. Today, we were at the airport ourselves, to say goodbye to our guest and what it a busy place it was for Tiree Airport. There were two small private planes on the apron as well as the larger Loganair/Flybe Saab 340B and a busy terminal building. As well as carrying passengers the daily flight carries the mail and newspapers and it is always a welcome sight. From our window we keep a weather eye on Ben Hynish and if we can see the Ben we know the plane should be able to land.
In the Bible, in Psalm 46, the songwriter says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear . . .” even if the unthinkable happens.
Jesus Christ is the ground of our confident hope both for the present and the future.
