Tiree: Summer, Autumn or Winter?

Today is the last day of our first year on Tiree; tomorrow begins an exciting new year. Thankfully, the day in which we moved into our home was a beautiful summer’s day. Today much of the conversation has been about the weather, “You don’t know what season it is. It’s meant to be summer, but it feels more like autumn or the beginning of winter.” Nevertheless, while out delivering meals I caught sight of Barra Head and Eigg.

On Tiree, you are never far from the sea or a sea view. The ‘Moor Road” crosses the island, north to south and is was great to see many of the rocky outcrops covered in heather.

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
