As widely predicted today’s sailing of the Oban-Coll-Tiree ferry has been cancelled. The 14.:45 departure from Oban had been on an Amber Alert but has now turned a definite red. Not even the ‘Mighty Clansman’ will attempt the crossing.
The Status Announcement reads:
Due to the adverse weather of north westerly winds gusting up to 51 knots on Tuesday 21/10/14 this service is cancelled. The next sailing on this route will be Wednesday 22/10/14 as per timetable. CalMac Ferries apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Although many other routes remain on AMBER, a closer inspection reveals that early morning sailings have been cancelled and announcements will be made later in the day in relation to later sailings. The tail end of the hurricane is certainly playing havoc with west coast travel.
In wild weather it is encouraging to hear from friends. One friend in Oxfordshire sent a message saying, “Hi hope you keep safe today in this terrible weather, it has just reached us pouring of rain and gusty wind.” Even better still to know that our Father God cares for us. Peter writes, Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
