The morning began so unpromising with grey, overcast skies and with little hope of witnessing the eclipse other than on television. (See Tiree’s Solar Eclipse.) Then just at the right time and at the right area of the sky, the clouds parted sufficiently to afford a spectacular view of the eclipse.

Not only were we freely able to witness this solar special with the darkness and the cold that accompanied it, soon the clouds rolled back to give us the blue skies, and the azure and silver seas that we so appreciate.
As we set out on our walk ,it’s first of all down to the pier, then across Glebe Land to Gott Bay and then back to Scarinish township, returning via the lighthouse and Machair. Today was an extremely low tide.

As we climb the style to gain the road from Gott Bay, the daily flight from Glasgow makes its approach to Tiree’s Airport – flying over Tullymet (house). And so the sun’s rays continue to beam down on Tiree.

Today has been a powerful reminder that the man called ‘Jesus’ is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. (The Bible: Hebrews 1:3)
