Opening the curtains this morning I was aware of two hares close to the house. Then there were the birds flying here and there getting breakfast for their young. Then this afternoon, not long after lunch, happening to glance seaward out of our window, I saw the outline of the Norther Lighthouse Vessel Pharos.
Having previously serviced the Dubh Artach Lighthouse, she appears to have departed Oban 09-06-2015 at 7:40 making her way down the Sound of Kerrera via Jura and Islay to Skerryvore Lighthouse arriving there 10-06-2015 at 7:40. She departed Skerryvore 10-06-2015 at 12:21 making her way up the Passage of Tiree – changing course several times. At one point, from the Lighthouse at Scarinish we witnessed a helicopter arrive and depart from the NLV Pharos.
The NLV Pharos is a multi-function tender which came into service in 2007. She works with a contract helicopter and her own workboats to provide a vital service to shipping by resupplying some of the most remote assets in Scotland.
