The month of June has put to rest the myth that it’s always sunny on Tiree. When visitors arrive you want the island to look its best. The Machair was something to behold but the weather was different. Not that it was raining all the time, most of the time it was just grey and with a nip to the breeze. How Monday’s sun had a transforming effect on everything!
Life on Tiree is more than watching the ferry arriving and departing, walking on our beaches or watching amazing sunsets. It was a good to have a friend who enjoyed these pleasures, but one who also experienced life on Tiree including meeting friends and enjoying church.
The week included a visit to An Iodhlann, Tyrii Pottery, Tiree Glass, the delights of Chocolates and Charms and the welcome of the Farmhouse Cafe. There was seal watching at West Hynish, hill walking up Ben Hynish and wondering at the Ringing Stone. A great meal out was had at Ceabhar and this was followed the next day by experiencing the height of fashion at Rags to Riches in An Talla.
The week passed all too quickly and thankfully there was no winter storm. Nor was there any question of industrial action as our guest began the long journey home taking with them memories of life on Tiree.
