The Sunshine Cruise

Today the Isle of Tiree is Sun Kissed.  On a day in which the South of England experienced torrential downpours resulting in flooding and homes being struck by lightning, Tiree at last had warmth and sunshine. Today’s ‘Experience Tiree’ cruise might well have been titled ‘The Sunshine Cruise’ for both sky and sea were an amazing blue!

A cleft in the rock transformed by the sunlight.

Those who came across from the Mainland on the Thursday sailing, either to walk, cycle or join the ‘Experience Tiree’ tour had some of the best sunshine of the year on the island. On a day like today I am reminded that Virgin trains wrote to me saying, ‘We know Isle Of Tiree is the best place in the UK − course it is!”  Recognition!

Sky and sea were still striking blue when the ‘Experience Tiree’ coach arrived back in time for the ferry back to Oban. The Mighty Clansman was resplendent in the sunshine as she entered Gott Bay and proceeded to berth at the pier. Unusually there were fishing boats in the bay at the very time the Clansman was proceeding to sea – as if providing an honour guard! There’s no doubt that those who joined the tour today were introduced to the jewel of the Hebrides.
