Sea Change

No Ferry!
No Ferry!

Life on Tiree is certainly never dull or boring! We woke up this morning to be informed that due to operational reasons, today's service from Oban to Coll and Tiree and return has been delayed and will now operate an amended timetable. The reason appears to be down to a technical issue with MV Finlaggan, resulting in the MV Lord of the Isles being deployed on that route. For Tiree this has major consequences, a seven hour delay, with the amended sailing now arriving in Oban until at least 22.20. Having sleeper reservations between Glasgow and London there was no option other to attempt to book a flight to Glasgow. We are so pleased that there are now 2 daily flights to Glasgow, for the first one was fully booked.

Our flight afforded us aerial views of neighbouring islands that we can see on the horizon from Tiree, some from our living-room window. There was the Dutchman's Cap, Staffa, Iona, Colonsay and Jura to mention but a few. Then it was over the River Clyde before touching down at Glasgow International Airport.

George Square, Glasgow

The change in our travel plans meant that there was time to make a quick visit to the shops, have some tea and visit George Square before making our way to Glasgow Central Station where we catch the Sleeper to London. Our grandson has asked for a photograph of our funny train. We will do our best to oblige.

Here's hoping for a good sound sleep.
