CalMac have announced that Thursday’s (22:10:15) 08:15 sailing from Oban to Coll/Tiree/Barra has been cancelled due to high winds. The service status holds out the hope that weather permitting the service will resume from Castlebay at 15:15 to Oban via Tiree and Coll. The recent spell of unseasonal calm, sunny, warm weather has finally given way to rain and increasingly high winds. Although this morning’s service was on an amber alert the MV Clansman had no difficulty in berthing at 09:05.
The MV Clansman entered Gott Bay out of the Murk that was the Passage of Tiree. Conditions at the pier were much better than forecast, grey and damp, but with little wind. There were the usual comings and goings. However, for the past two days the Screen Machine, a mobile cinema, has been stationed at the Rural Centre and this morning it left Tiree bound for Oban en route to Port Ellen, Islay.
