A Momentous Weekend.
Two regular sailings from Oban in a day.
Not every day, but every Saturday in High Season.
This must be a first for Tiree in many years in a very long time.

Thanks to the work of Tiree Community Council,
the efforts of Tiree’ Transport Group,
and a responsive CalMac,
this has come about.

The timetable runs from 25th June until the 27th August.
On the first day of operation
the first sailing was well loaded in both directions,
the second sailing was well loaded inward to Tiree.
However, the return sailing to Coll and Oban was lightly loaded.
With a timetabled arrival in Oban of 23:00 hours this is understandable.
In previous years, Saturday Sailings in high season were often fully booked.
Visitors were sometimes unable to travel to holiday accommodation.
Residents with vehicles were unable to leave at short notice.
All this has changed on this momentous weekend.

When the first sailing arrived from Coll and Oban the sky was grey.
Within an hour the sky and sea had turned blue.
A day to visit ‘Seal Island’

This is ‘Life on Tiree’ on a momentous weekend.
