– Sunday 4th September –
Saw over 200 runners take part in the Tiree Ultra Marathon.
Runners from Tiree, Scotland, the UK and from around the globe took part.
What amazing scenery they passed through as they ran right round our coastline.

Along sandy beaches, across bogs and short stretches of road they ran.
For some it was a case of run, walk, run, walk, run and finish.
The Ultra Marathon weather was mixed.
A dry start led into showery rain.
This gave way to sunshine.

Below is just a little reminder of an area of outstanding beauty.
Marshalling at Milton it was impossible to record the island.
Here are a few photographs from that vantage point.
With the hard slog it is difficult to take in the detail around you.
Driving must make it even more difficult to observe.
Standing! Now that’s interesting
The check point and refuelling station was at Milton.
With its harbour it nestles below Ben Mor.
It is a beautiful spot.

Just some of the cattle the runners met along the way.
Some will try and look you in the eye.
Some come with a ring their nose.
A Bird’s Eye view of the length of the island.
Standing in Milton looking across the water
to Ben Hynish, Kenavara and Ben Hough

Talking of birds – Geese overhead!
Impressive to watch, they are destructive to crops.

Before passing the check point at Milton
the runners had a view across the sound to Gunna and Coll.

With the check point closed at Milton
it is to time to head back to the finish line at An Talla.

It will still be another two and half hours
before the last runner crosses the finish line at Crossapol.
And here she is!

The is ‘Life on Tiree’ .
