After the storms of the past few days with winds gusting to 54mph,
who would have thought it would be so calm this evening,
or that we would have had such a dramatic sunset.
It was just as if no expense had been spared.

Where better to head for in Scarinish than the pier at Gott Bay.
Arriving at the pier a heron flew across the approach to he pier.
Seeing the camera it decided to seek refuge on more distant rocks.

With low light on the east side of the pier the shots could have been monochrome.
On the west side of the pier it is a different story altogether.
Life is in full colour.

On the west side of the pier the sky at first is in sepia.
As the sun drops the sky and sea are transformed.
This is life in full colour with no expense spared.

It was around noon that the wind suddenly dropped.
From gusts of 48 and 46 mph the gusts just stopped.
This evening the air was remarkably still.
And! No Midges!

Yes! It is a rainbow appearing in the distance beyond Ruaig,
The surrounding clouds reflecting the setting sun.
This was especially true over the Isle of Mull.
All around the sky is revealing the effect of the setting sun.
It does not matter which direction you look.
Standing on the pier you gaze and wonder.

You want to walk slowly back up the length of the pier approach.
It is simply fascinating watching the western sky.
How can you capture what you are witnessing?
In a short space of time the sky above has gone through so many colours.
Even the Pier Office is reflected in the watery sand.
Stop and appreciate.
Reluctantly, it is time to leave the pier and head back up Pier Road.
You hardly want to go in doors while there is still such a display.
Yet the hours of daylight are getting shorter.
It will be easier to get up with the dawn!
This is ‘Life on Tiree’.
