Over thirty people turned up at Sandaig on Tiree for a Festive Run
organised by Becky Wright of Chocolates and Charms
and Will Wright of Tiree Fitness.

There was a choice of two runs – either 5k or 10k.
There was no pressure whatever, you could run or walk.
And age was no barrier with most decades being represented.

Even on a late December afternoon the backdrop was inspiring.
We set out with Kenavara to our backs and headed towards Ben Hough.
Although not running along the beach the Atlantic Ocean was to our left.

Thankfully the gale force winds of the Christmas Weekend had subsided.
Nevertheless on the return leg of our walk there was a stiff breeze.
Direct in your face it certainly was bracing.

Will and Becky had kindly laid on a most welcome warming buffet.
While the children played away together, sharing new toys,
the adults had a chance to catch up with the latest news.

From Sandaig we had a clear view of Skerryvore Lighthouse.
However it was the setting sun that caught our attention.
We could see the fiery ball drop right into the ocean!
As darkness fell Skerryvore’s light shone brightly.

Thanks to all who gave towards the Surgery Fund.
Thanks to your generosity £150 was collected.
And a big thanks to Will and Becky.
This is ‘Life on Tiree’ enjoying the festive season.
