Overnight and well into the morning the wind was gusting to 48mph.
The ferry delayed departing Oban by 2 hours to allow conditions to improve.
Thankfully by the time the ferry arrived the wind had died down and there was little swell.

Although scheduled to visit Coll outbound to Tiree
the vessel did not attempt to berth at the island
but changed course straight to Tiree.

Most people leaving the island by ferry left on Thursday.
Traffic leaving for either Coll or the Mainland was light.
However there was a fair amount inbound.

Among the foot passengers welcomed were 2 members of the Dùn Mòr Cèilidh Band.
The band are playing this evening at the Community Hogmanay Dance at An Talla.
Organised by Tiree Community Development Trust entry is free.

While Oban has to wait until midnight for the ship’s horns to sound,
here on Tiree the Skipper wished everyone a ‘A Happy New Year’
with a blast of the Clansman’s horn.

With a final greeting from the crew at the stern of the vessel
the Clansman slipped away bound for Coll and Oban
on the final Tiree sailing for 2016.
“Happy New Year”
