‘East, West, Home is Best!’
‘It’s good to go away. It’s even better to come back home.’
It was great to meet up with family and friends but we are home now.

Video-calls are no substitute for seeing the grand children face to face.
What pleasure in going to the park and kicking the leaves.
The London parks were full of autumn colour.
How we drank it all in!

An early Christmas present took us to London’s County Hall Building.
There we saw Agatha Christie’s play, ‘Witness for the Prosecution’.
This was followed by our colourful walk along the South Bank.

The autumn theme continued on our return to Scotland.
While staying with family we walked along the tow path of the Union Canal.
It is exciting to see the canal in use once more after many years of sad neglect.

While in Scotland’s Central Belt an ambition was fulfilled.
We were taken over the new Queensferry Crossing.
Truly a great engineering feat.

A desire for a coffee stop took us into historic Culross.
How we would love to return and spend more time exploring the town.

‘It’s good to go away. It’s even better to come back home.’
It was great to meet up with family and friends but we are home now.
Our safe arrival home by ferry was accompanied by low cloud and mist.
This lack of visibility resulted in both flights from Glasgow being cancelled.

What a transformation today.
We woke to sunshine and it has continued all day.
So late afternoon we took our customary walk around Scarinish.

What a difference the clocks going back makes.
For a few days there will be more light in the morning.
Already in the evening the hours difference is most noticeable.

There may not be the buzz of the city.
There may not be the customary autumn colours.
We may not be linked to the neighbouring island of Coll by bridge.
But it is good to be walking across the Machair to the sound of the sea.

This is ‘Life on Tiree’ appreciating island life.
Immensely thankful for family and friends.
But now home.
