The time was 3:00pm.
The date was the 11th of November.
The venue was the Memorial just off Pier Road.
The occasion was the annual Act of Remembrance.

The weather was dry.
However by late afternoon it was cold.
Thankfully there was no wind to speak about.

This year the short service was led by the Rev. Alan Cartwright.
For the next 3 Sundays Alan is ministering at the Church of Scotland.
We extend a warm welcome to Alan and Mary as they visit Tiree for the first time.

Ian MacLeod and Duncan MacLean played the bagpipes.
Then Alan Cartwright reminded us why we had come together.
This was followed by the singing of ‘O God our help in ages past.’
After prayer and a Bible reading the two minutes silence was observed.
This was followed by the laying of the wreaths by various members of the community.

Perhaps the Act of Remembrance had a further significance.
Today the Tiree Trust presented proposals pertaining to future developments.
They were laying before the community two matters to be voted on later in the week.

“When you go Home, tell them of us and say,
For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today”

This is ‘Life-on-Tiree’ remembering the cost.
It was a time to remember people.
